Welcome to the International Space Art Network

Welcome to all who create or simply enjoy space art in all its forms. Amateur or pro, from the photo realistic panoramas of places or things not of this Earth, to the impressionistic visions evoked by the wonders of the heavens, all are encouraged to add photos of their work for others to see and comment on. Or simply have a discussions about art or space.

Please note that while we encourage a fairly broad interpretation of Space Art, off topic posts will be deleted.

Editorial from an Admin

Hello All, I thought it would be good to put up a few notes about the objectives of this art network. There have been quite a few new members, (welcome all!), since it got going.

It's very simple really, it is here to provide a forum for space artists to present their work, and discuss common issues. By 'space art' I mean art with astronomical subjects, with an attempt to make believable, accurate portrayals.
It would include abstract treatments of these subjects, but would in general exclude things like scenes from science fiction TV shows.
The medium is not important.

I think it worth emphasizing that the images are for artists to present their own work. If you wish to draw attention to other great images, this is very welcome, but it is best done by posting a link to the source.
I'm willing to be a lot broader in terms of what images are linked to - examples would include things like impressive photos from NASA, or other inspiring material.

Personal photos - my feeling is that a photo of the artist is fine, but not a lot of them please. I think reference material is not really appropriate, (though I am open to discussion), but these are best handled by a link out.

The main exception I would make here is images, (or videos), that demonstrate techniques are very welcome indeed. Example: A photo of the best way to hold an airbrush is great, a reference photo of a Saturn V rocket is best linked out, a photo of you standing by a Saturn V - one is welcome!

Ownership of images. Remember that the images you upload to the site will be presented with your name above them. People will therefore naturally assume that they are your work. You should not upload the work of others.
The artist is welcome to join themselves, or you can always link to external sites of interest in the forums, or the blogs provided.
Recent forum and blog entries are highlighted on the front page, so users will still get to see your info.

Use of other sources. Many of us use elements that are not entirely original, backdrops and textures being obvious example. This is perfectly acceptable, but it is good manners to acknowledge in the caption, and give credit where it is due.
I'm sure you would like the same if it was your work being used in this manner.

If you want to discuss this, I've started a forum thread

Frankly, it takes a lot more effort than this to be Creative and Original with language. Most people would conclude that you simply don't know how to spell.
