An outstanding painting of standing near the base of Olympus Mons on Mars. You have captured the view perfectly. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

This is perfect! At three times the height of Everest you've got the majestic scale of the mountain overwhelming the scene, just as it would be if one were standing at the observation point in the painting. Just as Nick said: "... the effect is superb,"

Well, I think the eye tends to exagerate hueights anyway, and the effect is superb, so don't worry about it too much!

Thanks Ron.

But I'm not very satisfied with the perspective of this one. I should have represented only the front wall, that is 8000 meters tall (5 miles), very probably the only visible structure at a reasonable distance.

I've prepared an alternative picture but I've not still decided to do the replacement.
