The composition is a pretty much direct copy of a magazine cover by the great Chesley Bonestell, though on his Jupiter only had a couple of subtle bands, all they could make out clearly with the instruments of the day.
The had was done with Daz, Jupiter, stars, and satellites done in lightwave and composited in.
The stars started out as an accurate starfield, but I got rid of the bright ones near the Galilean satellites, as they distracted from them.
