Hello all!

Thank you for your warm welcomes. It's good to hear from you. I have been rather well. Busy studying Mandarin, for I will be visiting China at the end of the year. I am also working on my art skills and hope to post my first painting soon, and drawings. Unless my father gets to it first.

A good site for 3d types.

One of my favourite sites for developing my 3d work is foundation 3d, over at F3D

There's a strong leaning towards Science Fiction as opposed to realistic space scenes, but they are a very friendly and knowledgeable crowd, and there are many who give invaluable advice on the best way to achieve an effect.

There are also some very high quality models (including spacecraft and planets), for download, though they are only accessible… Continue

3d objects for Space Artists

The quality is highly variable, to say the least, but it is well worth knowing about NASA's 3d object library if you are a 3d space art type of person:

Also some textures there too.

Space Art Book Review: NASA/ART: 50 Years of Exploration

Hi all,

Video on this site, some notes

I think it is worth putting up a few notes on how Video clips work here on The Space Art Network.

Watching video

They are probably large files, so you will find them slow to download if you don't have good broadband. You may even find them slow if you do have fast broadband!

The system will try and show you them as they arrive, so they will be slow and jerky for the first viewing.… Continue

A good browser for using sites like these...

Just a note to those who may be new to sites like these, or to browsers other than Internet Explorer...

It's good to use a browser such as Firefox, with a built in spell checker when using any online site with a message board. The Firefox one is available in UK and US English, and makes it a lot easier to spot bad spelling particularly if like me you have become dependant on computer aid to get the spelling right!

Lets's try this blog facility then...

OK, I'm not familiar at all with this blogging, which probably makes me a very bad first person to make an entry, but I am curious about how it all works...

Let's see if image insertion inline works:

Aha, I see it links to the original.
