Welcome to a place of vision and beauty. Welcome to the world of space art.

As executor of Helen Reed's will, I am charged with liquidating her estate.  One Item is Aldo Spadoni's painting, "Trifid Nebula"  As I found it among Helen's Star Trek Memorabilia, I'm assuming she bought it from Aldo at one of the Star Trek conventions she attended.   Aldo's name is on the back, his home and college addresses at that time, and a price of $40.00.  Can anyone tell me anything else about the painting?  It is beautiful, by the way.  Thanks for your time, Elizabeth Sloane

Tried with a darker background.

The photos don't really do it justice, and I couldn't block all the glare spots.  Hope it helps.   There are so many blended colors and tiny details; I enjoy looking at it again and again.  Thanks for painting it, Aldo!

Aldo--

No, there's no date I can find back or front.  Here's a picture for you, I think.  If I did it right...

Hello Elizabeth,

Thanks very much for contacting me and I appreciate your kind words. Wow, this is a real blast from the past!

I've been actively painting space, astronomical, and science fiction related art since I was in high school way back in the 1970's. I probably created "Trifid Nebula" around 1975 - 1977. Is there a date on it? Back then in the pre-digital age, I worked with gouache (opaque water colors) and airbrush. During that period, I did sell my artwork at various science fiction conventions including a few Star Trek cons. Though, I quickly became consumed by my engineering studies and my aerospace career. I didn't start painting again until the 1990's and subsequently moved to digital.

I don't even remember what this particular piece looks like! I don't have a very good photographic record of my early work. Would you be kind enough to take a photo of "Trifid Nebula" and send it to me? I would really appreciate it!

Regards,

Aldo
