International Space Art Network

Welcome to a place of vision and beauty. Welcome to the world of space art.

I have been away from here for a while. Yesterday I came in to see what's new and I learned that one of my paintings has been chosen by Guest Editor Bettina Forget. You could have knocked me over with a feather. Honest. I was totally shocked. I really did'nt think it was a very good picture. It was done in only a couple hours, mainly for fun as all my paintings are done now just for fun. Gone are the days when I hoped to be the next Chesley Bonestell and spent days laboring over a single painting, trying to get everything perfect and looking realistic and that did not work at all. So now after many years of trial and a lot of error, I paint in a loose and way less than perfect style. Just trying to capture a mood or a feeling. The way it felt when I was little and young and I would sit and gaze at the illustrations in those old science books I found in the Library or would see on the covers of Sci-Fi magazines and paperback novels. I think it was called"sense of wonder". Thats what I try to put into my work.
Thats all.

I know how you feel! I have been almost disappointed when something I put together really fast is popular, but something I worked on for months is not!

This happened with my stylised total eclipse image - I used it as wallpaper on my work PC, and loads of people asked if they could have it for wallpaper too...
